The Eye (2008)

0B8011A2DE The Eye is a Hollywood remake of the Hong Kong film Gin Gwai. For once I’m seeing the remake first. Gonna catch the original movie later on.

The violinist Sydney Wells (played by Jessica Alba, just as tight as ever!) has been accidentally blinded by her sister Helen since she was five years old. She submits to a surgery of cornea transplantation, and while recovering from the operation, she realizes that she is seeing dead people (like the 6th sense, except she isn’t dead!). With the support of Dr. Paul Faulkner, Sidney finds who the donor of her eyes was and they travel to Los Llanos in Mexico to resolve the mystery of her visions.

I think Carina enjoyed the movie. I think I didn’t enjoy it just as much as she did. It lacked depth and credibility. But Jessica Alba is allways nice to look at. Too bad she wasn’t naked (except for one scene, but that was short and you didn’t get to see anything anyways).

There are indeed some uncanny scenes which make you shiver. But I’ve seen better. Way better. And my guess is that Gin Gwai will provide me with an atmosphere way more scary than the one provided here. But I may be jumping ahead to wrong conclusions.

Anyways, The Eye are definitely worth seeing; if so, just for watching the beauty Alba on screen. Don’t just expect to be too scared.

Super Tight!

Errm… some scary dead dude is coming at you from behind. You might want to break his face. Oh, that’s right. It’s already broken.
