Stephen King – The Long Walk (1979)
Swedish title: Maratonmarschen. Another King book that I finished reading the other day on the bus on my way home from work. It is about some dudes (boys) having to walk like… a crazy-ass long distance. If you slow down or stop you get a warning, and after 4 warnings you get shot in the head by soldiers who’re watching this “race”. Or rather – walk. It is a quite cruel story, and I could even feel my own legs hurting when I read it. It’s almost like you’re racing through the book, being curious about who will win this Long Walk.
The Long Walk is quite short – around 400 pages or so. You’ll finish reading it in a couple of days, even if you’re occupied by work or other irrelevant things.
Read it. Now I will head on to the next project – probably Lisey’s story before I put my teeth into The Dark Tower series…

“…quite short – around 400 pages…” I’d say 400 pages about average on the verge to long. Damn good book though.
Compared to the book I’m reading now you are correct. Rage (also by mr. King) is about mere 130 pages (Lisey’s story will have to wait…). I really didn’t consider The Long Walk to be a long book – it took me just a couple of trips to and from work to finish reading it. Anyways, I’d recommend every last one of you to read it.
Well the book I’m reading now (Shantaram) is 940 pages
That is quite long, but it doesn’t beat King’s “It”. (Great book by the way, I’ve read it twice). You’ll have to tell me if Shantaram is someting I should read or not. Just googled it quickly and it seemed a bit interesting.
Speaking of which – the party (vaffanculo) is closing in ! not too long to go =).
