Stephen King (as Richard Bachman) – Rage (1977)
Rage (Swedish title: Raseri) is a short novel written by King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The story follows a youngster who murders one of his teachers and takes his high school class as hostage. Of course those recent high school shootings are brought to mind when reading the novel, but those who’ve tried to blame King for what happened are the real fucktards. Anyways.
The book is short (like 180 pages or so), and you’ll finish reading it in a jiffy. The story contained in those approximately 180 pages are although worth every minute you spend reading them. The writing is detailed (as usual) and intriguing. You’ll get to know the main character by the stories he tells his class when they are his hostages. Everything is written as a letter the main character is composing (thus retelling what actually happened during those hours he had his class as a hostage).
I’d really recommend this one for you. It doesn’t even take you long to finish it, so why not? It might even give you some insight about yourself.
